Newcastle Fixed Gear
10th Oct 2009

Newcastle’s first fixed event is less than a week away. It will begin at The Tyne Bar at 6PM. The night will include a short race, skid comp, trackstand comp, hillclimb and fixed gear films at The Tyne later. Will be great to get as many people down as possible. All welcome.

Had an awesome weekend in Edinburgh. Newcastle came 3rd, Glasgow 1st & 2nd, and Edinburgh 4th, 5th and 6th. Great to meet everyone and the tournament was a lot of fun. Thanks to all who organised it, hopefully we will be back up soon for another event.

We will be competing in our second bike polo tournament this weekend up in Edinburgh on the 27th September. It’s gonna be a great chance to meet some more riders and see if we have improved at all since the Cambridge Tournament!

Fusshop have just informed me that they have issue 4 of fixed, and also some copies of issue 3 for anyone who missed it. The mags are still free, you just need to pay around £2 for postage.

Electrik sheep should be getting the magazines in shortly, but for those who can’t wait or are outside of Newcastle, head over to Fusshop.co.uk now!

Tour Of Britain was pretty cool, saw a lot of nice bikes and the place had a great atmosphere. Had a few people come and ask about my crazy fixed gear bike. There was also roller racing, but unfortunately the bikes being used were tandems with no clips. A guy destroyed the drivetrain of one bike, possibly be cause he was strong, probably because the bikes were poor.

I have no idea who won the race, but it was worth going down.

The Tour of Britain comes to Newcastle this Sunday! The ride ends at the Baltic at about 2pm. Should be worth having a ride down to see the finish. Apparently there was free food/drink at last years race?
